As part of Vinyl 2010's commitment to promote dialogue among different audiences, several projects have been running in parallel to get younger generations to join the debate about sustainability and learn from the commitment of European PVC industry. Sustainable Thinking Platform - www.sustainablethinking.eu Following up on the huge success of previous essay competitions organised by Vinyl 2010, the Sustainable Thinking Platform has been created to continue promoting a wide debate about sustainability issues. Our community, comprised of young people from all the around the world, gives them the opportunity to exchange ideas and share your artistic creations. Join now and connect with hundreds of people interested in building a better future for our planet. Young people from all around the world are invited to discuss how the use of natural resources could be made compatible with the needs of today’s consumers and industrial societies.Today, the Sustainable Thinking Platform has more than 3,000 members from over 115 different countries. This project has been presented at the CSD‐18 of the UN in New York on May 2010, where it was very positively received. VinylGame - www.vinylgame.com The VinylGame is a computer game from Vinyl 2010, which challenges players to manage a virtual PVC industry in a sustainable way. Players of the VinylGame are challenged by the daily socio-economic and environmental decisions involved in running their own PVC business. Whilst fun to play, the choices made in how the company is run illustrate the challenges of balancing economic growth with sustainable development. Within the game, the consequences of playing purely for economic growth without regarding production safety, environm ental consequences or issues such as post-use recycling quickly become apparent as the virtual society may opt to respond and take a ctions and trade unions may vote to go on strike. In October 2008, the VinylGame was awarded the Italian prize ‘Premio Aretê 2008' for responsible communication in the videogames category b y a panel of judges chaired by the Italian Minister of Environment Stefania Prestigiacomo. The VinylGame is available in five languages. www.vinylgame.com
