Dow has operated a commercial feedstock recycling plant at its Schkopau site near Leipzig, Germany, since 1999. Based on a rotary kiln technology, the facility is capable of treating rigid and flexible high chlorine-containing waste, recovering HCl and producing energy. Initial trials demonstrated that the technology is robust and suitable to treat large quantities of most kinds of PVC waste products, including cables, flooring, roofing membranes, coated fabrics and others.
