Organised by the University of Applied Sciences Aargau, Institute for Sustainable Management (IfSM), in association with the University of Basel. The event was addressed by Gro Harlem Brundtland. Mrs Brundltand was previously Chair of the World Commission on Environment and Development, which elaborated the definition of Sustainable Development as ‘development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs'.

Vinyl 2010 presented papers on mechanical recycling schemes and approaches. The event was supported by the European Commission, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Veneto and Sardinia regions of Italy.
